Leafy Earrings are a mix of new and traditional manufacturing: 3d printed in PLA (polylactic acid), a plant-based polymer, hand-cut copper rings, and finished with copper hardware. The ring is embedded in the print during the printing process. Available in bold blue and black.
Including the earring wire hook, drop length is ~1 7/8”/4.8 cm.
Due to the nature of the fused deposition modeling technology (FDM) of the 3d printer used, you will see layers in the plastic, sometimes depositing with slight variations. This is a result of a process which cannot be repeated with the precision and consistency of a mass-produced, injection-molded item. The beauty of 3d printing is that it can allow the creation of geometries that cannot exist from an injection-mold process; in fact, even higher-precision 3d printing technologies (e.g., laser, stereolithography) may not allow for the inclusion of an additional, integrated part as you see in this design. (If there is such an example of this elsewhere, let me know as I'd love to check it out!)
